My first glimpse of the eastern Sierras as I drove to Tahoe. A stop at Convict Lake (the air smelled amazing after a thunderstorm).
What is most striking about Lake Tahoe, to me? The incredibly, clean, fresh smell of the pine trees and the deep blue of the lake. Three shades of blue, in fact. I’m sure everyone says that, but it’s true! And the people are very friendly. We took a drive around the entire lake and here is a little bit of what we saw…
I’ve wanted to try kayaking for a long time. I saw Lake Tahoe for the first time about five years ago, and I remember thinking then how perfect it would be to try it out there. Since then, I’ve been wanting to give it a go here at our local beaches, but for whatever reason, never got around to it. This summer, as my second stay in Tahoe was drawing to a close, I thought, it’s now or never. I rented a kayak from Kayak Tahoe, for a whopping early bird discounted rate of $13 and went out on a kayak for the first time. Loved it. It was just as fun as I thought skimming gently over the water would be.
And a last look at the mountains.
